The workers ‘statute
Read this article of the workers’ statute and learn it by heart, it will be your main defense weapon against possible abuses.
“The student workers (….) are entitled to shifts that facilitate the attendance of courses and exam preparation and are not obliged to overtime or during rest weekly.

The fundamental rights
First of all remember that you are workers like everyone else: you are therefore entitled to contributions , holidays, assistance, a fair salary proportionate to the quantity and quality of your duties. Unfortunately, the easy distortion and possible biased interpretations have allowed some employers not to recognize to the student-workers the right to turn facilitated, exemption from overtime, to the so-called 150 hours.
Rights that are generally recognized to those who attend the courses and upper secondary educationprofessional. But when that article was written and when legislation was enacted on the subject, no one was still thinking about university student-workers. Here are the rights that are particularly up to us students.
All those who work regularly (therefore those who are not “on trial”) and who intend to attend study courses held at public institutions are entitled to facilitated shifts that in a few words allow them to attend classes and maintain their place of work. In addition, the student has the right to refuse to work overtime or during weekly rest periods.
Often this term is associated with collaborative grants, ie part-time jobswithin universities that last 150 hours precisely and which give the right to a salary that usually is around two million. The 150 hours we are talking about are different.
To begin with know that they are one of the greatest achievements of the labor movement, the result of hours and hours of strikes and struggles of our fathers and our grandparents. So let’s use them! You are wondering what this blessed law consists of . We will answer immediately: they are a mountain hours-150 if you have not yet understood – that the student can use to attend courses and lessons. Small detail: even if you are in class you pay the same as if you were working.
The arrangementsto obtain the 150 hours they are described in the art.91 of the National Labor Contracts (different from category to category). To enjoy this right, the student-worker must submit a request to the management of the premises and subsequent certifications.
The monthly certification is binding in order to implement the right to hours paid for attendance at the courses.
The certification must take into account the hours of course actually followed by the student, otherwise not only will not be paid hours lost but will be subject to disciplinary measures.
The 150 hours (very few !!!!) are divided into 50 hours per year for three years and from the contractual point of view are “extraordinary paid leave” to be enjoyed only if working hours and hours of attendance are to coincide even partially (for example the work goes from 15 to 18 and the lesson from 17 to 18).
